The collection kicks off with 46115 Scots Guardsman setting off from Carnforth with the Cotton Mill Express. It was late because of problems with the stock at Steamtown. Two coaches had to be replaced at very short notice following a minor derailment, and one of them had a vacuum brake fault. As a result, the tour had to be abandoned at Preston and the train dragged back to Carnforth.

Photos taken at Lancaster, Preston and Wigan of the Royal Train during a visit to the North West by Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall. They begin with the train (topped and tailed by 67006 Royal Sovereign and 67005 Queen's Messenger) rather surprisingly looped at Lancaster. A1 60163 Tornado replaced 67006 at Preston for the run to Manchester. 67005 subsequently brought the ECS (and Tornado) back to Preston for servicing. The train then returned to Manchester behind 60163, seen at Wigan.
